How does Chegg work?

In order to use Chegg you must first sign up for an account by entering some basic information like your name, the school you are attending and so on. Once you are signed up in Chegg’s system you should then search for any college textbooks you wish to rent or purchase. You can search for textbooks using the ISBN number, the title of the textbook or the author’s name. Once you find the right textbook (be sure to check for the correct ISBN number and edition) you can then choose if you want to rent the textbook, purchase the textbook (new or used) or purchase the book as an e-textbook (when available).

Renting a textbook or purchasing the e-textbook generally tends to be the cheapest option as opposed to buying a textbook used or new. If you are only going to be using the textbook for the class and not referring back to it later it is recommended you rent the textbook, this way you can send the rented book back since you will most likely have no use for it after the class. However, if it is a book that you do want to reference later and save for future use you may want to consider purchasing the e-textbook or a used hardcopy of the book.
